HALLOWEEN - HALF SKULL HALF HUMAN MAKEUP LOOK

I woke up at a stupid time to do a last minute Halloween look for work. As it was last minute, I had to work with what I had. With a little more prep time I'd like to revisit this look so it's cleaner and flawless, but for work it did the job and many people were pretty freaked out! I used Clown White by Snazaroo over one half of my face for the white base. I always have this lying around as in my Musical Theatre days this was the to go to white face paint. I then used a black eyeliner pencil for any dark areas and cleaned it up with a wet liner brush and wet black eyeshadow. Then I used a black eyeshadow and blending brush for the shaded areas. I had annoyingly run out of my Blacktrack pot liner by Mac, and had no other black face paints or super pigmented black creams around, so I wasn't able to get it as dark as I had wanted! I also had to nose wax or glue stick to completely blank out my brows, so I had to improvise with PVA glue. I completed the look with one contact lense. For some reason, contact lenses are something I always have. I seem to collect them over the year and not use them - I have no idea why! As simple as the finish and not as polished as I'd have liked, this worked a treat! It was pretty fun to do and took me around 40 minutes, so it's not time consuming at all!

MAKEUP REVOLUTION HALLOWEEN/FREEDOM FINAL - VAMPIRE MAKEUP

When I received an invite to the Makeup Revolution Halloween party and Freedom Final, I couldn't wait to get my Halloween on. My post about the event will be up very shortly, so stay around for that. Unfortunately I had a long train journey, so I needed my look to be fairly wearable during the day, but easy to transform to evening. I went for some easy dark smokey eyes with lots of glitter, dark but not too dark lippy and added some fangs in the evening. For the outfit I wore a black velvet mini dress, a choker, fishnets and my Dr Martens.

I wore the personalised Scarecrow Vampire Fangs, which I reviewed a while ago here if you want an insight to how they work. I also used them for an over the top Halloween Vampire look here. I also used Diva by Mac on the lips for a deeper red shade to my usual red, to give a vampy edge.

I went for very basic smokey eyes with added glitter on top - mainly so I could spend extra time sleeping. This will be my glam night out go to makeup as it was super easy and looked lovely!

CARTOON VAMPIRE HALLOWEEN MAKEUP LOOK INSPIRATION

When it comes to makeup looks I never go normal. From my Drowned Mermaid to my Dragon Lady I'm always on the hunt for different looks. Today I bring you a Cartoon Vampire! I wanted to do something simple yet something that looks pretty effective. The hardest part of this look is covering the eyebrows. I didn't use any fancy covering foundations, and everything for this look I had already owned - So anyone can achieve this look with what they have.

To blank out my brows I used a glue stick to push them up and flatten them. I then used concealer then powder to set then repeated this one more time. I didn't use any fancy concealer or powder. If I were to this properly I'd use a high coverage concealer and powder! I then used a thick foundation all over my face for the best coverage and powdered. This is costume makeup so it's not a problem if it looks slightly cakey. I had a lot of spots when doing this too so I had to apply it thickly. I then used the purple from the Kryolan Bruise Wheel (You can get it here for £11.99) and blended it all over the eyes. It's very pigmented so I just kept blending until I had an ombre effect and then carried on down the sides of the nose. You can use a normal purple eyeshadow and blend it in with a powder brush. I then used a dark grey matte shade over the eye lid just to darken them and set them. I painted on my brows with Mac's Blacktrack with a thin liner brush. I applied this thinly and wide to create a cartoon feel. I then used the Blacktrack liner over the lips creating a thicker, cartoon like lip. I then used Mac's Diva in the center for a sublte ombre feel. I used Harmony by Mac to add some contouring to add a different dimension to the look. I popped in my Scarecrow Vampire Fangs (You can see my review for this here) and then my red contacts, some mascara, and I was good to go. It really is a simple look to achieve. It just takes a little time blanking out the brows then redrawing them on precisely!

MYSTICAL HALLOWEEN MAKEUP INSPIRATION - MERMAID - COLLABORATION WITH CAPTIVATE STYLE

I recently collaborated (and found out we are soulmates) with Nancy from Captivate Style! I love collaborating with bloggers as it's the best way to create friends and I'm so happy that Nancy popped up on my Twitter one late evening! After talking about Will Farrell for most of the evening we decided to create a few makeup looks that are a little different. Our first look together is mermaid, and you can see Nancy's beautiful opalescent mermaid here - you wont be disappointed! I wanted to create a look that's effective and easy too. This was such a quick look and you only need some super shimmery aqua hues, a few gems and a lot of blending. I added a little swirly design as an option as it can be a bit fiddly. So I've taken a few before and after photos.

Mac Pigment in Magic Spells

After foundation, I used a shimmery aqua colour from the Mermaid palette from Sleek a few years back all over the cheeks, down the sides of the nose and in the contours of my cupids bow. I used Mac's pigment in Magic Spells (you can see the review for this here) to add more depth to my eyes in the crease, the hollows of my cheeks and bringing it up to my temples. I used a mixture of brushes to buff the colours in. I used the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and their Contour Brush, both from the Core Collection, to get it all blended. I then used Crystal Avalanche from Mac in the inner corner of my eyes and to help blend out the edges of the blue on the cheeks to add a more sheeny highlight. I then popped a little bit along the nose. I was tempted to use gloss with this look to create a more wet look as mermaids would, but I ended up sticking to just shimmers for an easy look. 

After a few minutes blending the colours together and adding highlight to the centre of my eyelid using the aqua shade form the Sleek palette still, I then added some little diamonds under the eyebrows. You can get gem happy if you wish as they had a pretty mystical feel. The great thing about this look is it's so easy yet you can get really creative with it! I popped some of Collection's blue glitter eyeliner on my Mac 188 and dabbed it over the sides of my face for some sparkle! I wanted my brows fairly thick and cartoon like for that darker feel, so I just used my L'oreal felt liner which was on the border of too dry! I then used it to line my lips, but then went in with an Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Zero over the rest of the lips. I popped on some lashes and I was good to go. I then used the same liquid liner to add some swirls which was almost impossible as the liner was so dry - but I had already committed! After a little play I managed to get a swirly design on one side of the face that I could get away with!

I then put a bunch of conditioner in my hair to make it look wet and washed up looking. This is such a cool look to do and it'd go great with a pair of white lenses! I would pair this with a tattered white dress made out of sheets for a 'I've just got my legs' kind of look, or a old grey dress which has been dip dyed black or dark grey with dye to make it look like the bottom is still wet! Or all black if you're going last minute with a few shells stuck to you or in your hair.

HALLOWEEN LOOK - DRAGON LADY

Dragon Lady

Halloween is time for getting out all those bright and bold colours to create a look that's truly unique. Everyone is trying to find a look that no one will go as to stand out. In the next few days leading up to horrorfull Halloween, I will be posting product essentials and show stopping looks for all your ghoulish needs.

Products Used;

Urban Decay Kush (From NYC palette) - This was used all over the cheeks and up towards the forehead. 

Urban Decay Gel Liner - I used this to create precise black lines above and below the eye. Also over my eyebrows.

Urban Decay Blackout - I used this shade to go over the liner and to blend with other colours.

Urban Decay Damaged (From the Vice 2 palette) - I used this to blend out with the black out, as it had a black/green shift to it.

Urban Decay Freak (From the Electric palette) - I used this as the lightest park of the green, blending in with Damaged. 

Urban Decay Half Baked - I used this all over the lid, and below. I also used it below the eyebrow.

Urban Decay Zephyr (Book of Shadows 4) - I used this to highlight my inner corners, blending with the Half Baked.

Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Solstice - I used this all over the lips, and also used it for the dots below the eye, and eyebrow detailing.

Also, green contact lenses, and eyelashes.

So there we have it - A last minute makeup look. Perfect for any fantasy themed parties you have going on over Halloween!

SCARECROW VAMPIRE FANGS REVIEW - CLASSIC DELUXE VAMPIRE FANGS

Halloween is coming, and we have little time left to plan who we are going as this Halloween! In the next few days I will be posting about Halloween essentials, from contact lenses, wigs, face paints, prosthetics and costumes - Halloween is for sure one of my favourite times! First of all I'm going to start with these fun fangs. These are from the brand Scarecrow, and you can see all their different types of products here. Do check which size you get before you buy, as I didn't - Classic is for normal to large teeth, and small is for small teeth to normal. I have very small teeth, but still made the bigger ones work.

How lovely is the box! When purchasing these in store I read nothing, I opened them up thinking they'll just slot on the teeth. Oh no. These come with some mixing potions to ensure that the fangs are perfect for you. Read on to read the easy process... 

First of all grab the pot, mix one capsule with 4 drops of the liquid. Mix this together with the wooden stick until it gets to a paste. Once it's a paste, push it into one of the fangs, and push it into the chosen tooth. Don't worry about anything spilling over, as it will help keep the fang secure. After 5 minutes, repeat to the other tooth. Leave on for about 20 minutes and then remove. It continues setting for about 24 hours. And there you have it - Great, easy fangs! They look great too, and really are far more superior to those cheap plastic fangs that you fit into your mouth. Obviously don't eat, drink (Or kiss) with these on as that could be hazardous. The fangs really fit in the teeth really snug after you've gone through the process of fitting them - Totally worth it!
