SPENDING BAN UPDATE 3

It's been 5 weeks and a day since the spending ban started. I must say I've done so well. I've not bought a Mac product since starting this, and it's taken a lot out of me to do so! Again, my loving boyfriend has supported me, and through the tough times like the 50% MUA event, he treated me. When the Urban Decay  Oz palettes came out I knew I was in trouble. As I'm a poor student I have a loan, but that doesn't even cover my rent. The only options I have is to dip into my overdraft. The spending ban has made me realise that my overdraft isn't there for that reason.. Well.. Not for many products anyway! So as I was saying, the Urban Decay palette had me in a dilemma. For weeks I tried to fathom how I was going to afford it and the only option was to slice into my overdraft. The day it was released in my town I was in uni 9-6:30, so there was no way of me going to the make up event and seeing and getting my makeup done. But my best friend did and lovingly flaunted the pictures she took at the event right in my face. Not helping! I then remembered I had a set of Illamasqua make up to take back that had all been broken on its delivery - HOW COULD I FORGET?!
I'm not going to lie, I pretty much cried happy tears.
I managed to exchange it for a palette! Yay!
So I've actually not bought anything since the last update and I'm very proud. I also won a gorgeous Nails Inc nail polish from the beautiful Ceri, so that stopped me from giving into my nail polish cravings.
So there we have it. A pretty successful week I must say. Although there are some beautiful things I am lusting over!

  • Mac Archie's Girls lipstick in Betty Bright
  • Mac Archie's Girls x4 Eyeshadow Palette in Caramel Sundae
  • OPI Liquid Sand Stay The Night
  • OPI Liquid Sand The Impossible
  • OPI Pink Yet Lavender
  • OPI - All the Oz set which is due to come out any day now!
  • Sleek Platte in Acid
  • Mac Eyeshadow in Blue Candy - It's gorgeous! Wanted this for months now but never got around to buying it.
  • And after seeing Marvelle's Blog Sale - I need her Mac Lipstick in Summer Shower and Mlle!

SPENDING BAN UPDATE 2

The first week was a breeze. And then it got tough.
I'm usually pretty good at staying clear of spending, but this week as been bad. It's only been 19 days and I've crashed and burned.
Now I don't have a legit excuse for this, but I do have something that influenced me to spend. Luckily though my lovely and amazing boyfriend has been treating me to bits to steer me clear of spending. But I've spent... Here's what I bought out of my own money..

  • Recently I participated in a blogger swap, so I had to buy a few bits for someone. A small limit was set.
  • I am doing a give away for all your lovely followers! However I can't afford a lot, so I've only got a few goodies for someone lucky.
  • I bought a top from Topshop in the sale. £10... Oh Hannah.
  • I treated myself to a few nail varnishes, came to £7.
Technically I spent £17 on myself. And why? Because I've needed cheering up. This isn't an excuse, I know. I lost very close family member to cancer at an early age this month and to cheer me up I've been spending. Writing this actually makes me feel so disappointed in myself, and I know it's not a valid reason. My lovely boyfriend has been so supportive and has been cheering me up when he can. I also took a week of Uni because of this which again led me to treating myself.
The £17 I have spent I am actually going to match and donate to a Cancer charity after the spending ban is over. which makes me feel a little better about spending what I did. I really hope that the others out there doing this haven't spent yet and indeed I intend to spend no more!
I just wanted to say a thank you to all the people following my blog and supporting me through this Spending Ban, like I am with many others of you. Let me know below what you think of my spend and how you're getting on yourself! Thank you so much for reading - I hope this motivated you to put the pounds away!

SPENDING BAN UPDATE 1

It's been only been 6 days into the spending ban. 94 to go. I've done really well so far, but to be fair, back at home I live in the country with no public transport, and no near by shops. So when I go back to uni in Essex with everything on my door step, things may get a little harder. I've not seen many people updating how they're doing on the spending ban, but I wanted to keep updating so people that are doing don't feel alone. I wont be doing it every 5 days however! I keep getting reminded by my uni friends that I can't spend, so it's lovely to have support from my friends at home. I'm also lucky enough to be friends with Holly Arabella who is dropping off some bits she no longer wants - So I have something to keep be going until mid April! If anyone else is still doing it, let me know how it's going!

100 DAY SPENDING BAN

Many bloggers across the world have decided to join together to do the 100 day spending ban which I've been put off doing as my motivation and will power is 0. But after persuading, and the lovely Marvelle from BlogOfShadows talking me into it, here I am! The girl that goes shopping all the time has now decided to join the 100 day spending ban. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be very tough, but I'm excited to do it. As a student I shouldn't spend much anyway, my loan doesn't cover my rent and I'm out of a job, so it's going to benefit me so much not spending with so many bloggers supporting each other. That aside most bloggers have some rules, and here are mine.

  • I can spend money on other people e.g. Birthdays, Valentines day.
  • I can spend what's left of my Christmas money - Which isn't much - and vouchers.
  • I wont be buying any clothes, make up, fast food, body products etc.
  • If I DO buy anything - Which I wont - my boyfriend will figure it out and he has a right to take it away from me until after the 100 days are up.
  • Just buying the essentials.
I'm very excited to be doing this - I need to be doing this! I'm so happy that there's so many people doing it, and head over to Marvelles blog if you want the list of people that are also doing it. The only concern I have is at the end of the 100 days I may go a little over board. But we'll see!! I'll keep you updated on how things are going and if I cave in. 100 days from today is April 15th, 4 days after my birthday! I will be asking for a lot for my birthday this year! I hope if you're a blogger and reading you'll be persuaded to do this too. Thank you for reading, and I'll keep you all updated!
